My Conclusive Report About Homelessness

In pursuit of my concern for the homeless community and my research of question and answer - I took a turn to speak with a homeless individual to gain understanding of what it takes for an individual to succumb to the lifestyle of being homeless. As I sat with a daytime resident of ours at the facility - I came to this conclusion: There are three (3) categories of the homeless community:

The Addiction of Drugs and Alcohol Users - This is the individual whose lifestyle was once maintained as a healthy and stable lifestyle until introduced to the usage of drugs and/or alcohol which led to the overwhelming pulsating of needing and wanting more and more of the substance…contributing to the loss of employment, housing, sometimes family and friends, etc. Drugs and Alcohol - not only a habit-forming way of life…but also, in my opinion, classified as a mental disease or even a mental disorder - depending on the level to which an individual become contagious to the disease(s) and the mental strength of that individual.

The Emotionals - This is the individual whose emotions are dependent upon the acceptance of relatives and friends and often turn to the community of being homeless when the feeling is null and void. This individual seeks the comfort of a friend or loved one but find it difficult to achieve. Being among strangers is somewhat comforting to this type of individual.

The Natures - This is the individual whom enjoys the lifestyle of the outdoors. They are attracted to nature and may travel from time to time and/or from state to state ‘sleeping-out’ or camping out. Their home becomes the outdoors.

Counseling - at some point - is a sure sponsor of helping the homeless community to begin their life anew through helping them to understand themselves…and to stress the importance of them loving and caring for themselves…even if no one else does (excluding the Natures)…which, through my observation, is the basic principle. They often feel nagged upon and badgered…unwelcome and unloved. The feelings associated with the situation of homelessness are: Lack of friendship, confinement, and loneliness.
